Quadrate, Fluid, Refined, Adjacent, Austere

Design Philosophy:

“A nonconformist who values the conceptual aesthetic of both structural and fluidity in a garment.”

In a compact space, humans create more meaningful relationship with volumes closer to their own size. A micro structured house is limited in dimension yet it evokes a tranquil feeling of harmony with the site it settles in. Combining the elements of micro-architecture and the natural environment, garments are designed to express the austere relationship between the man-made and natural world. The physical unity of hard and soft is further explored and synthesized during the construction process.

AFRIKANNSE KUNNS SS17

TOP 10 FINALIST FOR MEN’S FOLIO SINGAPORE

Menswear Collection (2017)

Geometric shapes outlined the african sculptures and mask. Using the shapes and geometry style lines, the collection was adapted into a Spring Summer collection. Bold colours and silhouettes are exaggerated with dark tones neutralising the outfit. Taking influences from textures and prints carved on the sculptures, the outfits have pin tucks and pockets to make it conventional and functional.

DENIM 2020

LEVI'S X ARTSTHREAD

DYSTOPIA 2020

(2016)

In 2020, as we are slowly manipulated and controlled by the advancement of technology, empathy is lost to us all. Weaponry is easily accessible, crime rates are up. Social unrest escalates to an inevitable chaos.I

n times of such peril, everybody must take a stand to reclaim peace. The very idea of peace has evolved. A strong desire for change is required be it environmental and social. Equality reigns supreme in the tribe’s fight for world peace. They strive to escape their dystopian reality to return to a once fantastical utopian dream.

Biodegradable plastic blended and organic cotton denim accomodates the tribe’s rebellious lifestyle. Yet I also foresee new technology inventing a stronger and more durable fibres to replace cotton that is not only substantial but also eco-friendly.

This collection facilitates the channeling of self expression amongst the tribe to promote their message of world peace.

FIGURES & GOWNS

O level artwork 2014

Chosen to represent my Secondary school for the

Singapore Youth Festival in 2014

Theme: Seated Figures

I came up with the idea of creating a costume inspired from the hindu god and goddesses.

Using a variety of mix media in my artwork such as coffee powder, food colouring and different paint mediums.. This was the artwork that inspired me to pursue an education in fashion.
